Types of Texas Holdem Poker Game
Texas Holdem is one of the most popular card games. There are different variations within Texas Holdem itself, these variations are based on the betting structure. The different kinds of Texas Holdem are Limit, No Limit, Pot Limit and Spread Limit.
In a Limit or Fixed Limit game the betting limits for the different rounds are fixed; there is a particular minimum and maximum limit from which the players cannot deviate. After the flop the limits are raised to $8.
A no limit Texas Holdem game is one where the players can place any amount of bet at any time they want. Usually most of the tournaments follow the no limit strategy. Because of its increasing popularity more and more casinos are offering the no limit Texas Holdem. In this type of a game the figures refer to the amount of the big blinds and the small blinds. For example $4/8 in a no limit game will mean that the amount for the small blind is $4 while that of the big blind is $8.
Pot limit Texas Holdem games are also like the no limit games. A fixed betting amount does not exist and a player can bet any amount they want at any time however at the same time the size of the bet can never exceed the pot amount. For example if the pot has $500, all the betting amounts has to be within $500.
In a spread limit game the players can bet any amount they want but it has to be within a fixed range. For example if there is a $2-$10 spread limit game, it means that the players can bet any amount within $2 to $10 at any time. This way spread limit games are similar to fixed limit games. Spread limit structure was more in use in the different stud poker games like 7 card stud, 5 card stud etc. but they also have been used in Texas Holdem games. In the present day this kind of a betting structure is not so popular among the players.
